857th BS
Ladd Crew
The crew arrived
at Harrington shortly before the reorganization of the Group in
August of 1944. According to Frank Miller (ASN
18098139)
the crew
was broken up sometime during the fall of 1944, with Ladd's crew
changing places with the Bowland crew before they were sent to Leuchars
in mid-September of 1944. At most each of them flew only two missions
with Balchen's "Ball Project" before returning to Harrington in October
of 1944 and continuing on into the night bombing period of early 1945. A
second picture exists, but is very blurry, hence not shown here.
