Luttrell Crew
The
crew's first appearance in available records is found in the reorganization
orders of 13 August 1944. Luttrell's first mission (with
Karr) occurred on the
night of 8/9 August 1944, and would seem to indicate that the crew had arrived
toward the end of July or early August and began OTU training immediately
thereafter. By the end of active operations in mid-September 1944, they had put
in nine combat missions. They flew a number of gas-haul missions, and on into
1945 more Carpetbagger missions with their last recorded mission on the night of
30/31 March 1945 (to Norway). Names provided by John A. Wright. Kneeling, L-R:
