The crew arrived in the UK under Shipment FR-551-F1 on the Dutch liner "Nieuw Amsterdam" (source Tom Brittan). They appear at Harrington on Special Orders #241,dtd 18Dec44 whereupon they were trained for Night Bombing missions. They appear in the Late Period Log 15 times before being brought down by a combination of enemy aircraft and ground flak over Norway. They had been transferred to the 858th BS during the personnel turmoil of March 1945 when the 857th was sent to Bassingbourne. In the 1990s a Norwegian fisherman brought up Mihocik's dog tags in his net, proving perhaps that the plane was still over water when brought down. In 2009 a relative (Sarah Rector) searching the Internet, came across this crew page and, after some messages back and forth she received the tags and a ceremony followed.
