Tom, Thanks, I'll wait to hear more from you regarding access to the site. Having now referrred to my hard copy of the Harrington Operations Log, I see that Charles Payne was a pilot and that he flew no less than eight operations in 510 NU, the aircraft which he also flew back to the ZI on 8 Jul 45. The other planes he flew, each on only one occasion, all had verified names: 652 ND (42-50652 named DARK EYES) 940 NA (44-50940 named NIGHT MAID) 602 NQ (41-29602 named THE BLACK ZOMBIE - originally THE LORETTA ANN in 490 & 34 BGs) In view of this, I am comfortable with 510 (shown as 2510 on the ZI list, which means that it can only be 42-52510) being named AMOROUS ANNE after assignment to 406th NLS and am amending my database accordingly. (PIC 2) was concealed when gloss black paint was applied and that the aircraft was renamed AMOROUS ANNE in 406th NLS. This supposes that we do have the correct complete serial number for 510! 42-52510 was declared war weary in Sep 44 and 510 and was a late arrival in Jan or Feb 45 at Cheddington where it was given radil call letter U. I need to consult the 406th NLS daily sortie reports to discover more but these are not immediately available. Was Charles Paine a pilot? If not, with whom did he fly? By the way, Tom, I must have failed to update my favourite site list to show where to find the documents you have made available on the Internet because the URL I have is no longer valid http://home.comcast.net/~defactohistorian/DepotMap.html Tom. Late arrivals at Harrington, mid-April45. First show in the Ops Log is 17May45 flying 510 for the 406th NLS. Claims to have been the pilot of 'Amorous Anne'. Does that match any of your records?
